The Enkundleni Centre for the Arts

Black Umfolosi has established the 'Enkundleni Centre for the Arts' in Bulawayo, where young groups and individuals can receive training in many fields.

This is co-ordinated by Thomeki Dube and run by a management committee consisting of Dube and fellow founder group member Sotsha Moyo plus Taurai Tichareva. The team is actively fundraising to help develop the project which is already of enormous benefit to the community and has yet to reach its full potential. When the development is complete, many aspiring young performers will get the opportunity to work with international artists on cultural exchanges and help promote the centre's own festival.

The Enkundleni Centre is Black Umfolosi's way of giving a little back to the community that has inspired and encouraged them.

It is based in one of the poorest High density Suburbs of Bulawayo, the second city of Zimbabwe and the hometown of Black Umfolosi. After explaining their plans for a community based arts and drop in centre, the local council provided the group with a plot of land. Over the years using the groups own resources they have managed to build a series of buildings. These include practice rooms for artists, a pre-school nursery and play round. and a Training Centre-teaching
skills that can provide income for young unemployed.

The group has ambitious plans to expand the centre to include a theatre, studio and more training workshops and thank you for any support you can give!
